Accessibility
In short
- We want everyone to be able to use this site and our program. We aim to meet WCAG 2.1 level AA.
- If anything is hard to use, call us. We will help you by phone and fix what we can.
- Interpreters and other communication aids are free.
Our commitment
Nationwide IOP Center [VERIFY: full legal entity name and type, e.g. LLC or Inc.] wants this website and our program to work for everyone, including people who use screen readers, keyboards, magnification, captions or other assistive technology. We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at level AA.
This website
What we have built in and check before each release:
- Text and buttons meet AA color contrast, and text can be enlarged without breaking the page.
- Every page and the First Light guide work with a keyboard alone, with a visible focus outline and a "Skip to content" link.
- The guide announces each new question to screen readers, and form errors are named next to the field they belong to.
- Animation is turned off when your device asks for reduced motion.
- Photos have text descriptions. Buttons and links are large enough to tap.
- The site works without any third-party scripts, so add-ons and blockers won't break it.
Known gaps
- The video tour of the center has no spoken words, but it does not yet have a text description of what it shows. The Our space page describes the rooms in text and photos.
- This statement has not yet been checked by an outside accessibility auditor.
We review the site when we add pages, and fix problems people report to us first.
